What's Behind "Hide the Decline"

Here is a good explanation of what's behind the phrase "Hide the Decline".

From our friends at JunkScience.com

HideTheDelineII.jpgSoon after the Climategate scandal broke in November 2009, Minnesotans for Global Warming (M4GW) produced and posted on YouTube a video satire, entitled "Hide the decline." The video parodies an excerpt from the Climategate e-mails in which the University of East Anglia's Phil Jones states,

I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) and (sic) from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline.

The "Mike" referred to by Phil Jones is Penn State University's Michael Mann who is credited with developing the so-called "hockey stick" graph which purports to represent mean global temperature changes over the past one millennium. The hockey stick graph has been both central to the debate over manmade global warming and controversial. While the hockey stick was featured prominently in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's Third Assessment Report (TAR, 2001), it was largely omitted from the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report (AR4, 2007).

Rest of the article.

Hey great article, one of the best I have seen on the subject. Most stories I have seen done on this just deal with the generalities instead of the facts of the case.

Which did give me a thought for a parody song, "When I saw the facts, Now I'm a Believer" Done to the Monkeys song "I'm a believer". I wish I was good at writing songs but I am not but maybe you all can come up with something.

Keep up the good work.

But instead call it "I'm a Denier"

Sorry I missed this on Cavuto. Mann didn't get the memo that Lindsey Graham is getting behind climate change legislation in the Senate he wants it to be the next issue the US Congress takes up? This can't help the proposed Cap and Trade Bill they want to push through Congress.

Why are my comments being censored? I had two that were on yesterday and now gone? You all know you are following me on twitter right?

Sorry been getting a lot of Spam lately

"I am a denier", that is even better. Who would have thought that Global Warming would provide such a rich environment for comedy.

Elmer,

No problem, among people and topics I blog. one is Imus and Cavuto. Imus In The Morning is on FBN.

I was happy to see you all on Cavuto's program on Fox Business News.

I really don't see how the Climate Alarmist can put the genie back in the bottle. They can't be that out to lunch, that they don't get we all know they are basically "creating data" for I don't know - Grant Money? The Purpose? Politicians want to pile regressive taxes on us in the form of Cap & Trade. So they need some kind of scientific sounding cover, in the form of Mann's hockey stick graph.

How about another blog like this? It was well done. I started doing creative writing back in my youth, and this had the two most critical parts of a good article, informative and fun to read. Thanks.
