John Hirst, head of the Met Office, tries to defend the record of the weathermen after they predicted a mild winter. Andrew Neil asked him to justify his salary which is higher than the UK Prime Minister's. The presenter seems to know more about the subject than the actual guy running the MET Office.

Listening to this splendid example of television journalism, the likes of which I've not seen in America (excepting perhaps what is made available only in Gumption County), makes me wish our American news was broadcast by the characters of Monty Python. Now that would be news I'd be happy to watch!
Hirst used to be head of the WWF in the UK which immediately qualifies him to run the Met Office.

We posted this on the pay rises the Met Office got after predicting a barbecue summer (it was cold and wet) and a mild winter ( I am freezing my butt off)
What is unbelievable is the stupid woman from the BBC Suann Watts saying it is a mild winter
